July 2007
I have just added the last painting of Jimmy-John which I only recently realised that I had left off the bunch. Apart from paintings [baboon and other] that are hanging in Miems resturant, in Pringle Bay.
The first time Mandy, of our Pringle Bay Baboon Troop, had a baby and came and showed it to us ["Mandy and her New Born", 2006 above] we were so thrilled. Recently we noticed she was very pregnant again [quite astonishihhg being mid-winter] and yesterday she brought it onto the deck to show us. We could hardly believe it as the baby still had its umbilical cord attached and the baby was so small with such tiny pink hands that it couldn't hold on by itself, Mandy had to hold it with her left hand every time she moved - she therefore walked on 3 legs. Mandy looked exhausted and unsociable, so we were doubly pleased that she had come up to be with us on the deck. The visit didn't last long and we couldn't get a photograph, but we knew it was Mandy as none of the other adult females ever bring their babies close, but Mandy had been with us on the deck as a teenager. |
